Gowanus Neighbourhood Study
The Gowanus Neighbourhood Study is a long-term plan for a thriving, equitable, healthy, resilient, and sustainable neighbourhood, initiated by Brooklyn Community Board 6 and elected officials. Located along the Gowanus Canal in Brooklyn, an EPA Superfund Site, the plan aims to support the the canal’s cleanup while promoting the creation of permanently affordable housing and diverse job opportunities in this transit-rich neighbourhood.
For this study, my role was to prepare the technical documents necessary for public review and facilitate in-person and virtual community outreach meetings, roundtables, and public hearings. This included performing zoning analyses, creating area maps, zoning maps, tax maps, zoning calculation tables, and area photographs.
Additionally, I was an integral member of a smaller group within the Gowanus team that developed the Gowanus Industrial Business Zone Vision Plan.
